PM demands working out action plan on reforming Moldovan Railways state enterprise

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ – The priorities of modernization the transports infrastructure and state policies to be promoted by the government on this segment were discussed today during a joint meeting of central public administration representatives and the team of experts of the International Financial Institutions. The meeting presided Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
One of the topics referred was reforming of State Company "Calea Ferata din Moldova" (Railway of Moldova) (CFM). In this regard, representatives of the Ministry of Transports and Road Infrastructure informed on developments of modernizing the railroad infrastructure in Moldova, noting that there should capitalized financial resources provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union Programme "Neighbourhood Investment facility". Additionally, with the support of French company EGIS, it was developed a reform concept of the company, so that it to become profitable and attractive for national and international transporters.
The prime minister demanded the authorities to develop, as sooner as possible, an Action Plan on reforming the state company CFM, where to set priority measures for undertaking. "We we want the railroad infrastructure to be modernized. Moreover, we must have a clear commitment of this reform implementation, to understand what it takes to make CFM profitable, but to be certain that investments will be made in vain", said Pavel Filip.
Participants at the meeting also discussed priorities of training and distribution financial resources from the road fund, a distinct division of duties on local road maintenance and road safety strategy implementation. In this context, the prime minister pointed out upon the need of human capacity strengthening and assimilate existing external possibilities in funding it.
At the meeting closure, there were presented the achieved results on European Union Agreement implementation referred to common airspace and projects of infrastructure development of the Republic of Moldova, elaborated with the support of external partners.
