New Moldovan Army contingent starts activity in KFOR Mission in Kosovo

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - A ceremony on transfer of authority between contingents of the National Army took place at the Camp Vilaggio Italia multinational base. The contingent that worked in KFOR mission during six months was replaced by a new one, made up of 40 servicemen.
At the ceremony, the commander of the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W), Italian colonel Giovanni Giagheddu appreciated the professionalism and conscientious attitude of National Army military and thanked them for devotion and courage proved while staying in Kosovo. At the same time, colonel Giagheddu welcomed the servicemen of the sixth National Army contingent, voicing confidence that they would show a high level of education, just like their colleagues from the previous contingents.
In the end of the event, the commander of the KFOR-V contingent, lieutenant-colonel Adrian Efros awarded National Army’s distinctions to Italian and Austrian colleagues: a medal „Pentru consolidarea frăției de arme” (For Strengthening Brotherhood in Arms) and the medal „Pentru Cooperare” (For Cooperation) – as a token of appreciation of the contribution to carry out cooperation and enhance inter-operability between military of Moldova, Italy and Austria within MNBG-W.
The fifth National Army contingent left for Kosovo in last June and fulfilled missions of security and guard of military objects and patrol, as well as engineering missions.
The parliament approved a decision to detach Moldovan services to KFOR operation in Kosovo on 1 November 2013.
