Moldovan education ministry launches first online platform in vocational education sector

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Education Ministry today launched the first online platform (www.ipt.md) in the vocational education sector, meant for pupils, teachers, enterprises and authorities.   

An interactive map of all vocational schools, a full list of professions and specialties, a database of educational products from this field (occupational standards, professional qualifications and curricula), as well as other useful information can be accessed on the platform.    

At the event, Deputy Education Minister Vasile Marin said that the biggest arrear recorded by the ministry dealt namely with the reformation of the vocational education, and the authorities were modernizing and reforming this professional sector. “Quality education means, first of all, educational supply adapted to the rigours of the labour market and well-trained specialists, in accordance with the requirements of employers and the labour market on the whole,” Marin said.    

For his part, Head of the European Union Delegation in Chisinau Pirkka Tapiola said that “the platform represents an opportunity to prove excellence, quality and the results registered by this type of education, which must be promoted continuously.”  

The platform was created by the Education Ministry, with the support of the European Union, within the budgetary support programme to modernize the vocational education. The site will be managed and updated by the ministry and the Republican Centre for Vocational Education Development. In Moldova, there are 11 centres of excellence, 32 colleges and 44 vocational schools, which provide young people with about 80 professions and over 100 specialties.
