Moldovan president ending mandate to benefit from privileges during four years

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - The person who held the office of Moldova’s president, at the end of the mandate, resignation or impossibility to exercise the powers, will benefit, during four years, from office, personal assistant and permanent vehicle. The parliament adopted a legislative amendment to this end with 55 votes for.
The lawmakers of the Party of Socialists and Party of Communists voted against the amendment. The MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) criticized the haste in which the lawmakers wanted to pass the concerned draft, alleging that the provisions of the parliament’s regulation were violated, according which the lawmakers have at their disposal ten days to come up with amendments.
Under the document, the legislative amendment is aimed at ensuring an efficient cooperation with the former head of state and will allow him devoting himself to an activity useful for the society, taking into account the experience gained during the mandate.
Presently, the former Moldova presidents benefit from pension, free of charge medical assistance, free treatment at spas and sanatoriums, vehicles to order, diplomatic immunity and ensuring security.
