Official statistics confirm National Bank's forecasts on inflation rate in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ – The annual inflation rate lowered in November to 2.6 per cent, according to National Bureau of Statistics (BNS), which confirms forecasts of National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
Once it falls below lower limit of variation target in quarter four 2016, inflation will accelerate and record the maximum level in quarter four 2017, said BNM report on inflation released in October 2016. It will then return and will remain in it until the second quarter 2018. The range inflation target of 5 per cent is ± 1.5 percentage points.
Food prices in November 2016 were higher than the 3.2 per cent recorded in the same period 2015, prices of non-food goods increased by 3.5 per cent and services provided to population by 0.6 per cent.
Official statistics also indicated the annual inflation rate in November 2015 was 13.5 per cent, including foodstuffs – 14.5 per cent, non-food goods – 13.8 per cent and services provided to population – 11.3 per cent.
