Four persons detained following searches made at western Moldova customs checkpoint

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - Four persons today were detained by anticorruption officers and prosecutors within a file concerning corruption actions committed by employees of the Sculeni customs checkpoint and Ungheni customs office.
According to the head of the press service of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), Angela Starinschi, it is about the head of the Ungheni customs office, his deputy, a shift head of the Sculeni customs checkpoint and one customs inspector.
“The action continues with searches at more addresses. At the same time, the Sculeni customs checkpoint is already de-blocked and works as normal. Subsequently, we will come up with details,” Starinschi said.
Anticorruption prosecutors and officers today make searches at the Sculeni customs checkpoint, at addresses from Ungheni, as well as in Chisinau.
In early last November, prosecutors made raids at the Sculeni and Leuseni customs checkpoints. At that time, 30 persons were detained. It is about 14 customs officers, three border policemen, six economic operators and seven drivers.
