Moldova continues implementing commitments taken within Central European Initiative

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will continue implementing the commitments taken within the Central European Initiative (CEI), in terms of edifying a competitive community, able to cope with the present and future regional challenges. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic made statements to this effect at the CEI Summit, held in the capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Sarajevo city. 

According to the Economics Ministry’s press service, in the context of the new regional and international developments, Calmic also said that CEI must extend its role of bridge between different regional organizations and initiatives, in order to enhance the cohesion and participation of all countries from south-eastern Europe in strengthening the level of regional cooperation in the process of European integration of the aspiring states.     

At the Summit, Octavian Calmic also said that Moldova welcomed CEI’s 2017-2020 action plan. He also believes that this will consolidate Moldova’s cooperation with the regional organizations, in particular, in order to ensure progress in important sectors of cooperation, such as economic and social development, entrepreneurship, energy sector and infrastructure, justice, collaboration in the fields of security, education, science and innovations, etc.    

“Given that the European integration represents an irreversible strategic goal for Moldova’s foreign and domestic policy, we appreciate CEI Secretariat’s commitment in backing this process of our country, the relations between the aspiring states and the EU member ones,” Octavian Calmic said.   

In Sarajevo, Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic also discussed the commercial and economic cooperation with Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, as well as with the heads of the delegations from Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, other states.
