Moldovan government enhances social protection of employed pregnant women, women with small children

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, approved the minimum requirements of workplace and health safety for the protection of employed pregnant women, the ones who have recently given birth to children and who nurse, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Under the draft, employers will assess any risk for the security or health of women earning wages and possible negative effects on the pregnancy or nursing and will take all needed measures to remove them. Thus, women wage earners could not be obliged to carry out activities posing specific risk of exposing to chemical agents, radiation. At the same time, noxious working conditions will be excluded, including the night work, exposing to extreme temperature limits, mental and physical fatigue.
At the same time, if unfriendly conditions for carrying out the activity are discovered, the employer will have to order temporary change of the conditions of schedule of the work, change of the workplace, as well as exemption from fulfilling the duties for the entire period necessary for protecting the security and health of the employed women from the concerned category.
Also, employers will ensure the informing, through trainings, pregnant women wage earners, the one who have recently given birth to children or who are nursing, about professional risks they are exposed to
The government decision will enter into force starting from 1 January 2017.
