Disadvantaged young people from Moldova to benefit from socio-professional integration

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/- The Demos public association in partnership with associations “Amici dei Bambini Moldova” and „SERDȚE” from Bender today launched a project on common initiatives of the civil society organizations from both banks of the Dniestre aimed at integrating disadvantaged young people from Moldova in society.

The project sees strengthening capacities of information networks of providers of socio-professional integration service according to the European standards, socio-professional integration of 275 disadvantaged young people, raising awareness of authorities and developing the skills of more nongovernmental organizations. In this context, 20 representatives of local public authorities and nongovernmental organizations from both banks of the Dniestre river will learn the best practices existing in Moldova and Italy.

Demos public association head Liliana Samcov today said “the socio-professional integration service represents a complex of services and activities meant to support the disadvantaged young people aged between 18 and 30 years in transition to independent living. The service is focused on development of social skills and vocational guidance of vulnerable young people”.

For his part, representative of the EU Delegation to Moldova Jarek Domanski said that the project “is part of a more ample programme aimed at breaking stereotypes in society and integrating vulnerable young people in everyday life”.

The project will be implemented during 28 months in 11 districts and two municipalities from both banks of the Dniestre. It is amounted to over 700,000 euros, of which about 600,000 euros is provided by the EU as a grant.
