Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/- The Constitutional Court (CCM) presented findings on the fact that more Moldovan authorities did not meet their duty during the presidential elections. The leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu, made the statement today.
Sandu said CCM hinted that those who contested the election results had to come up with evidence proving the violations during the polls. “We understand we had to do the work of the Central Election Commission, police, Justice Ministry, Security and Information Service and Foreign Ministry. At the same time, if CCM believes that the courts had to consider the evidence, and the courts say the analysis of violations are within the competence of CCM, we can say we have a ping-pong between institutions, and finally the issues remain unsettled,” Sandu said.
“The CCM found other gaps, doubts and ambiguities of the electoral legislation. These legal ambiguities allowed authorities to ignore us and influence the election results. The court’s refusal to consider our applications led to the fact that we had no control over validity or fraud of elections. This way, the authorities contributed to covering election fraud, and citizens who voted for me and those who could not vote, were denied the right to find out if the elections had been rigged or not,” she said.
CCM validated the results 2 days ago. Among infringements are: involving representatives of churches in the election campaign, organized transportation of voters, multiple voting and failure to exercise the right to vote of citizens living abroad due to the lack of ballot papers for polling stations from abroad.
Following the validation of election results, President-elect Igor Dodon will be sworn in on 23 December at 13:00 at the Palace of the Republic.
