Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - Turkey is interested in extending the bilateral relations with Moldova on all dimensions and the ascendant dialogue between the Moldovan and Ankara authorities provide opportunities to carry out mutually advantageous projects in the interest of the two peoples. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 14 December evening made statements to this effect at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic, on a working visit to Turkey.

The Economics Ministry’s press service has said that, during the meeting, the president of Turkey appreciated the evolution of the bilateral ties on the last period. He gave the example of the entrance into force of the Free Trade Agreement between the two states, which provides for new opportunities to carry out joint projects in different sectors, especially the economic and commercial one.

Also, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that the Ankara authorities were opened for developing the relations with Moldova, including through implementing bilateral projects with active involvement of the business environment from Turkey, in particular, in the agro-food, industry fields, etc.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic said that Turkey was a strategic partner for Moldova and the extension of the bilateral relations would help develop a sustainable and multifunctional partnership in all the fields of cooperation. “The entrance into force, starting from 1 November 2016, of the Free Trade Agreement between our states open new opportunities in the promotion and development of the bilateral relations between Moldova and Turkey, removing obstacles to initiating new promising projects in the bilateral ties, especially to develop joint investments,” Octavian Calmic stressed.

The Economics Ministry thanked Turkey for the technical assistance provided to Moldova through the TIKA programme, stressing that the forums of business people from the two states were a very good platform for carrying out bilateral projects.

In the context, the two officials emphasized that the signing of a declaration on establishing the strategic partnership between Moldova and Turkey would mean a switch to a qualitatively new phase in the bilateral relations. The sides also said that the signing of such a document could be possible within an official visit to Moldova by the president of Turkey, due in next spring, or by the Moldovan leadership to Ankara.
