The measure aims to establish a single institution responsible for determining and paying pensions, including employees of force structures and ensure a transparent and efficient use of public funds.
Currently, ensuring pensions for employees of force structures is carried out by six different authorities. However, the performance audit of the pension system in Moldova by the Court of Auditors in 2015, found that pension information system for law enforcement establishment is outdated and does not ensure effective data processing. Similarly, the current situation causes lack of systematic information on actual spending all categories of pensions, the actual number of pensioners in Moldova and other relevant indicators.
According to legislative changes, CNAS will take over the establishment and payment of pensions for employees of power structures, with effect from 1 January 2017.
