Moldova, Romania sign cooperation agreement in cinema domain

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ – In Chisinau took place today the signing ceremony of Agreement on cooperation between National Center of Cinematography (CNC) in Moldova and National Center of Cinematography (CNC) in Romania.
From Moldova, the document signed CNC director, Valeriu Jereghi and Romania – by Director General CNC Romania, Anca Mitran. The event was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Andrei Chistol and Romanian ambassador to Chisinau, Daniel Ionita.
Contacted by the agency, Valeriu Jereghi said that this was the first agreement signed by CNC with similar institution abroad.
"We put great hopes in signing this document, which will help develop our common cinema, to the achievement of international co-productions. For starters, we intend to realize short films. In this regard, we are pleased that the Ministry of Culture and Finance find film financing opportunities for 2017. Therefore, today we announce a competition for film projects and scenarios, which we hope will attend more filmmakers, and especially young people", said Valeriu Jereghi.
At her part, Director General CNC Romania, Anca Mitran said the agreement covered the entire scope of activities in the field of cinema and requires the parties to support and reinforce each other internationally, to cooperate in the distribution of cinematographic works by extending Festival in both territories, through networking/sharing programs shared by implementing policies and international regulations that would facilitate the creation of a unique distribution area etc.
The National Cinematography Centre (CNC) in Moldova was established by a Government decision, approved on 2 December 2015. Following a competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, on 11 May 2016, film director and screenwriter was named Valeriu Jereghi the director of the National Centre of Cinematography.
