PARE 1+1 Steering Committee approves grants for 38 projects in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ – The Steering Committee of pilot program to attract remittances into the economy "PARE 1+1" for 2010 – 2018 approved 38 applications for grants worth 7.58 million lei, which will help attract to the economy 22.41 million lei.

According to the Economy Ministry’s communication and media relations department, Yulia Iabanji, director general of the Organization for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises sector /ODIMM/ said that out of all applications received, 15 businesses were created by migrant workers who returned from abroad and 23 enterprises were constituted by first-degree relatives of migrants.

"Of the total projects approved for funding, 11 are business start-ups and 27 businesses are in expansion stage/development. Moreover, implementation of investment projects mentioned above will contribute to about 128 jobs, additionally," said Iabanji.

Geographically, the enterprises are located in 19 districts of Moldova. Out of this total, 15.8 per cent operate in Chisinau and 84.2 per cent in rural areas. Statistics of ODIMM shows that about 53 per cent of businesses are started in agriculture and aimed at different types of activity – growing grain and vine, establishment of plantation Paulonwnia, livestock, beekeeping, and the remaining businesses will operate in service delivery (18 per cent) and manufacturing industry (about 29 per cent).

Analysis of remittances origin shows that 38 applicants invest financial means from work carried out in 11 countries, such as: Italy – 12, Russia – 9, UK – 3, Israel – 3, Ireland – 2, Romania – 2, Portugal – 1, Germany – 2, France – 2 and one applicant in Spain and UAE.
