Over half hundred regional development projects to be funded starting 2017 in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ – Members of the National Council for Regional Development Coordination (CNCDR) approved today at a meeting, the list of the proposed projects to receive funding from the National Fund for Regional Development, in the next four years.
According to the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction’s /MDRC/ communication and media relations department, following the evaluation made by the inter-ministerial commission, the suggested projects for funding have regional impact, ensure their sustainability, including goods’ management mode in post-implementation, and goes with priorities and objectives of the selection of projects.
"For 2017 – 2020, the National Regional Development Fund plans allocations from the state budget amounting to about 1 billion lei. In this context, taking into account the benefits for localities, projects have been assessed in several stages: to see if consistent with the objectives and priorities of the design contest, if they have feasibility studies, technical projects to date, relevant technical solutions, including coherent economic and technical documentation," said Octavian Calmic Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, President of CNCD.
The main areas of intervention where were submitted proposals, related to regional and local road infrastructure, water supply and sanitation, solid waste management, development of business infrastructure, increase tourism attractiveness and energy efficiency of public buildings.
"At first stage of contest, were submitted 321 concept project notes worth about 7.8 billion lei, representing the development needs of the municipalities received from LPA of level I and II. After several stages of evaluation, 52 projects worth 1.3 billion lei, will receive funding beginning 2017. Most projects are related to water supply and sanitation. For projects not to be financed from the National Fund for Regional Development, we search other funding sources, including negotiations with development partners," said Minister of Regional development and Construction Vasile Bitca at CNCDR hearings.
According to the Chairman of the Regional Council for Northern Development, Ion Leuca, this contest took place in three stages, March – November 2016, in which it was ensured the participation of all involved counterparts.
