Virals cases increase during recent week in Chisinau, Moldova

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ – Approximately 4600 new cases of virus infection were registered in Chisinau during this week, by 1400 more than during 5 – 11 December, announced the municipal Public Health Center today.

According to the cited source, there were hospitalized 77 patients during this period, including 40 children. Mostly affected are children up to 6 years. At the same time, during the last week there were reports of illness with 3200 children aged up to 17 years.

In the cold season, there were totally recorded 134 cases of influenza in Chisinau, out of which 77 during the last week. In this context, doctors warn people to eat as many fruits and vegetables, avoid crowded places, drinking and smoking, and with the first symptoms of illness to seek medical attention.

Those 200 thousand doses of flu vaccines, offered as a donation by the USA Center for Vaccines Equity, arrived in the country on 14 December 2017. Afterwards, it began influenza vaccination in particular of persons in groups at high risk of infection – people with chronic diseases, medical workers, employees of carabineer troops and border guards, Emergencies and Customs Service of social welfare institutions, children of orphanages etc.
