Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/- The Constitutional Court declared as inadmissible a notification by Liberal Democrats on the withdrawal of MP mandate of former premier Vlad Filat.
The decision was delivered after more lawmakers of PLDM had asked the court for ruling on constitutionality of lifting MP mandate of Vlad Filat, as the Court of Appeal decision would be appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice, and till then the decision should be revocable.
Last week, Vlad Filat was deprived of MP mandate under a decision adopted by the parliament according to a ruling by the Buiucani court and a decision by the Court of Appeal of 11 November 2016, stipulating the ex-premier’s guilt of passive corruption and influence peddling and sentencing to 9 years in prison, a 60,000 lei – fine and no right to hold public office for a 5- year- term.
Filat was arrested on 15 October 2015 on the basis of self-denunciation of businessman Ilan Shor who declared he would have given bribes amounting to 250 million dollars to the former premier. Filat rejects the accusations.
