Moldovan Army consolidates security of weapons depot with European Union's support

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union has financed with 93,000 euros the works and security equipments of the National Army’s weapons depot placed at the Bulboaca-based training centre, east of Chisinau. The project was carried out within the EU Support of SEESAC (South Eastern and Eastern Europe Clearinghouse for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons) Disarmament and Arms Control Activities in South east Europe .
According to Deputy Chief J4 Logistics Directorate and Chief of Arms, Ammunition and Military Equipment Department of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Camerzan, by implementing this EU-backed project, decision-makers have managed not only to raise the level of security of the depot, but also to create a more efficient system of managing the stocks of weaponry and ammunitions.
Implemented in accordance with the international standards, the upgrades included securing the whole storage location perimeter with metal fence with barbed wired top, CCTV installation and CCTV control room refurbishment and equipping.
Attending the event were Project Manager of the EU Delegation to Moldova Jarek Domanski and UNDP Assistant Resident Representative – Programme, Doina Munteanu.
