Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip had today a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of JSC Gazprom Valery Golubev, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The Cabinet chief noted the development of the Moldovan-Russian relations, including constructive talks held with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the CIS meetings. The boosting of bilateral dialogue, in premier’s opinion, contributed the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian joint intergovernmental commission for trade-economic cooperation, which was held in Moscow in November 2016.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip specifically highlighted the cooperation between Moldova and the Russian Federation in the field of gas. "Presently, Moldova pays on time current consumption of natural gas, we have no arrears. When there is a desire, problems can be solved," said Pavel Filip.

At his part, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of JSC Gazprom Valery Golubev, welcomed paying 100 per cent of the current consumption of natural gas to Moldova, stressing that this was a good foundation for further development of bilateral cooperation in that sector and expand dialogue on the settlement of old debts for gas supplied to Moldova in the 90s of the last century.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip appreciated the decision of Russian "Gazprom" to extend contracts for supplying natural gas to Moldova for the following three years, until 2019, in conditions similar to previous years, which allow us to benefit from a lower price compared to 2016. During this period, a decision will be taken on Moldova's historical debt restructuring for the delivered natural gas.
