Moldovan institutions to have access to financing within Danube Transnational Programme 2014-2020

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft law on ratification of the agreement on financing for the Danube Transnational Programme 2014-2020 between the Moldovan government, the European Union and the National Economy Ministry of Hungary, signed in Chisinau on 15 December 2016, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The programme’s goal is to provide financial assistance to implement projects on promotion of innovation, transfer of knowledge, energy efficiency and entrepreneurship in the Danube region, as well as for actions of conservation and management of the natural and cultural heritage, development of safe and sustainable transport systems in Moldova. The country will benefit from assistance worth five million euros as grant, to finance projects initiative by public authorities, non-governmental organizations, education institutions and Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
At the same time, the participation in the programme creates needed pre-requisites for deepening the cooperation relations between institutions from Moldova and the ones of the Danube region countries, among which: Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany, Serbia, Montenegro and others.
The programme’s overall value is 268.78 million euros; it is implemented by the European Union through the European Neighbourhood Instrument.
