Moldovan top court judges to receive pensions for length of service

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/- Judges of the Constitutional Court (CC) will receive pensions for length of service, according to legislative amendments published in the Official Journal of Moldova (Monitorul Oficial).
Under the document, CC magistrates, who have turned 50 years and have a 20-year- work experience, including as judges of the CC during a full term, are entitled to seniority in 55 per cent of the average salary.
At the same time, for each full year of employment, 3 per cent of salary will be added to the 20-year-seniority. Pension for length of service will not exceed 80 per cent of the average wage of magistrate of the court. After retirement, CC judges will be entitled to be employed and receive both the pension and full salary.
The parliament is to consider a draft law on the increase in number of judges of CC from six to seven. Also, it is set that the mandate of judges should be increased by three years, from six to nine years, with no right to renew.
