Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - The director of the Resource Centre for Human Rights (CReDO), Sergiu Ostaf, was appointed member of the Integrity Council at the National Integrity Authority (ANI), under a decision adopted by the parliament today.
Sergiu Ostaf was the only candidate to participate in a contest organized by the parliament’s juridical committee on rules and immunities, given that his counter-candidate, Mircea Tanasov, failed to come to the interview.
Only three out of the seven members of ANI’s Integrity Council have been appointed so far. It is about the head of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Victor Micu, head of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, Mircea Rosioru and Viorel Furdui on behalf of the Local Authorities Congress.
The Integrity Council is a new structure within ANI, due to deal with the working out of regulations on appointment of the head, deputy head, as well as integrity inspectors.
The mandate of the Integrity Council members is of five years, without possibility to be appointed for another consecutive mandate.
