The goal was set forth at a today’s meeting between MIEPO representatives and the leadership of FEZ and IPs.
MIEPO director Vitalie Zaharia stressed the importance of the economic zones and industrial parks in the development of Moldova and presented the institution’s vision on ways of cooperation with these entities.
The permanent updating of the databases by potential investors was the first subject tackled at the meeting. In this respect, the sides referred to the mutual exchange of information with the state’s institutions and their permanent updating, in order to attract new residents and investments.
MIEPO proposed to work out promotional materials, which would correctly and fairly present the zones with special status, as well as the success stories of residents, which represent an important factor in taking decisions by investors to become FEZ or IP residents. Subsequently, the materials will be submitted to beneficiaries through Moldova’s embassies from abroad. At the same time, FEZ and IP support was requested to organize study visits by delegations of potential investors.
Presently, nine Free Economic Zones are running in Moldova, with an overall investment worth 230.2 million dollars, and the 156 residents created about 6,500 jobs. The ten Industrial Parks benefited from investments amounting to about 52.5 million dollars and 57 residents created 2,150 jobs.
