PM visits gifted children from northern Moldova

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip visited today, groups of children and juniors of basketball team in Donduseni, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The cabinet chief congratulated the young athletes for their performances, noting that the team spirit and tolerance manifested by them at treating their peers from other ethnic groups was a leading example for the whole society. At the same time, Pavel Filip said he was a fan of basketball and supported the promotion of that kind of sport among pupils. "I have a big respect for those who possess will and even get results with fewer resources. As said the legendary Michael Jordan who said, that with talent one could win a match, but with a good team and intelligence one could win championships," said Pavel Filip.
Following the scope of supporting these talented athletes’ results, the premier institution stipulated new equipment and sports facilities. Children thanked for gifts offered by the official and, in gratitude, gave him as a souvenir a ball for basketball with team members’ signatures.
Also today, Pavel Filip went to visit the pupils who participated at computer science Olympiad and members of the Center for Robotics of Lyceum "Mihai Eminescu" in Drochia.
The premier carried on encouraging the pupils to continue and gain new achievements in information technology and robotics. He said that the government supported the development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector for that purpose, approved and implemented several policies in the area. "Only by throughout young people like you are, Moldova can develop and become stronger. We will continue to support the younger generations and modernization of the country", said Pavel Filip.
The children wanted to show to the prime minister the robots which were made and programmed by them. At his turn, Pavel Filip offered to the institution the technical equipment that pupils and teachers needed.
The Robotics Center of Lyceum "Mihai Eminescu" in Drochia possesses five computer classes, including two mobile multimedia classes and a classroom equipped with modern facilities. There are implemented a few projects on capacity building of young people to work with modern technologies within the Centre.
