Chisinau hit by earthquake of 4 degrees

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/- An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale shook Romania last night. The seism of magnitude of 4 degrees was felt in Chisinau too.
The director of the Institute of Geology and Seismology of the Academy of Sciences, Igor Nicoara, said the earthquake occurred at 01:20, at 83 km depth.
“Such an earthquake is of medium intensity, it is not felt by all citizens and does not cause damage or casualties. According to preliminary data, the seism occurred in the Vrancea area and was felt in Eastern Romania, Chisinau, as well as in some settlements in Bulgaria and Ukraine. The earthquake had a line around 05:00, with a magnitude of 2.9 on the Richter scale,” Nicoara said.
An earthquake of 5.3 degrees occurred on 23 September 2016, being felt by most people from Moldova.
