Chisinau, 30 December /MOLDPRES/- The Moldovagaz company extended the terms of contracts concluded with Gazprom till 31 December 2019. In this context, the sides signed additional agreements to the contract on conditions for gas supply to Moldova in 2007-2011 and contract on conditions for gas transit through Moldova of 2011, a press release by Moldovagaz has reported.

The gas supplier notes that the same European formula will be applied on the period of contracts as regards setting gas price for consumers from Moldova, formula based on the arithmetic average sale price of gas by Gazprom in the European countries and quotations of prices for petroleum products. Other contractual conditions on gas supply and transit will also remain unchanged, except that the contractual conditions see lower limit and upper limit for calorific value of imported gas, which positively affects the purchase price for gas delivered to Moldova.

The contract in force was signed in December 2006 and expired on 31 December 2011. It was extended in the coming years in a row.

During the visit to Chisinau on 21 December 2016, deputy head of the Gazprom Board of Directors Valerii Golubev welcomed paying 100 per cent of the current consumption of gas by Moldova, noting that this represents a good foundation for further development of bilateral cooperation in this sector, and for extending dialogue on settling the historical debts for gas supplied in the 90s of the last century.

Representatives of the Economics Ministry declared by late 2015 that Moldova’s debts to Gazprom are estimated at 780 million dollars.
