Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the winter holidays, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The message says:
"Dear compatriots,
I want now, by the end of the year, to direct to you a good and solidary thought with all you have gone throughout the whole of the year 2016.
I know very well, and not hearsay, that the just ending year was not an easy one for families in Moldova. For those citizens within the country, it was a year with many shortcomings, and for those ones outside Moldova, it was at least as hard as so many which had been spent away from home.
The salaries and pensions are still not enough for a decent living, tariffs on utility services are not yet fit to people’s income. The situation remains precarious in hospitals, and people are not fully motivated to return home.
But I should like, on the Eve of the New Year, to convey a sense of hope towards you. With all the troubles and hardships, Moldova has a few things that will make it stronger in the year 2017.
I know, like you do, that families are not fed with reforms and that welfare does not come just by clapping hands. It comes with work, sacrifices and perseverance. But I assure you, that I and my team are very determined to do all it takes to reach this wealth in every home, on every table in the life of each citizen. Trust us. We do not promise miracles, and avoid populism. We will do just what it takes to succeed as Moldova and its citizens to live better.
Happy New Year, dear compatriots, with more hope and fulfillment! Let the year 2017 to be a little better for everyone to live in more comfort and more harmony!"
