National Army sappers destroy over 670 explosive devices

Chisinau, 3 January /MOLDPRES/- In 2016 the National Army sappers were asked 183 times for neutralizing explosive devices discovered in different settlements of the country. During the operations, 679 explosive devices have been neutralized.

According to head of the engineers corps service, Lieutenant colonel Serghei Chilivnic, the most impressive arsenal, consisting of 69 explosives, was discovered in September in the forest of Hirbovat village, Anenii Noi district. Explosives were destroyed by the mine clearance team of Engineering Battalion, led by Captain Valentin Stati.

Chilivnic added that another arsenal of explosives had been discovered in December in Plopi village, Cantemir district, during farming works. The sappers team of Dacia brigade, led by Vasile Caminschi, neutralized 18 ammunitions.

All explosives discovered during 2016 were from the World War II period and were destroyed by the sappers in safety conditions.
