Moldovan PM demands maximum mobilization in connection with weather conditions

Chisinau, 6 January /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting today with the heads of responsible institutions for managing exceptional situations, so that to assess the risks of Orange Code announcement of complicated weather conditions in Moldova, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

According to the information presented there, all national and local roads are passable, being located 476 equipment units ready to intervene promptly, if necessary. In this context, the prime minister ordered measures to unblock speed transport which travel was stopped and asked a continuous update of information on the situation on the roads, but also at the crossings of Moldova's borders. "In this period, the majority of citizens travel outside the city and more than ever we should care what happens on the roads and, if necessary, to come up with support," said the head of the Cabinet.

Also at the meeting, the premier was informed about the undertaken measures to reduce risks caused by low temperatures and the level of preparedness of Civil Protection and Emergencies territorial subdivisions, to increase carrying capacity of special intervention vehicles. In this respect, the prime minister asked the Interior Ministry to provide plenty of information to citizens and to keep regular contact with the local authorities, for maximum mobilization and efficient management of emergency situations.

Similarly, Pavel Filip demanded the Health Ministry to provide medical assistance and access of the population in all hospitals of Moldova and requested the Education Ministry preparation of educational institutions for pupils returning from holidays.

The situation in the territory and information exchange between responsible institutions will be further on provided in the Operational Steering Dispatch Center of Emergencies, with prompt reporting to the prime minister on development of the situation.
