Moldovan rescuers deblock over 80 transport means from snow drifts

Chisinau, 7 January /MOLDPRES/ - Rescuers who worked in an enhanced regime, last night de-blocked over 80 transport means from snow in the central and southern Moldova.
Most interventions last night took place in the Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia, the districts of Cahul, Causeni, Cantemir and Stefan Voda. In UTA Gagauzia alone, rescuers unlocked 60 vehicles with people, which got stuck in snow drifts, and 12 touring cars were taken out of snow on highways to Cahul.
As many as 200 people, of whom 17 children, were taken out of touring cars stuck in snow. There were two ambulances with patients among the transport means towed. The first crew of physicians was de-blocked nearby the Anenii Noi district and another crew stuck in snow was assisted in Ceadir-Lunga.
As many as 225 employees of the Emergency Situations Service, with 77 technology units, were involved in interventions and monitoring the situation in Moldova.
People are asked to call the 901 Service, if they find themselves in risk situations. Rescuers urge drivers not to set out, in order to avoid emergency situations.
