No snowy roads found today in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/- All the country’s roads have been cleared of snow overnight, so the traffic is under normal winter conditions.
According to the Transport and Road Infrastructure Ministry’s press service, there are no local or national roads covered with snow. Workers of the State Road Administration have worked all night to clear roads of ice and snow. Overnight 118 special machines, 307 road workers were involved in the process, and 730.3 tons of skid material used. At the same time, in the south, 7 additional machines were contracted from the economic agents who worked on road snow removal.
At the same time, the Border Police announced that the checkpoints “Ceadir-Lunga 1” and “Cismichioi” remain closed today due to the snowy routes on the Ukrainian territory.
Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Liliana Puscasu said “overnight rescuers conducted 5 interventions and unblocked 9 cars in Gagauz-Yeri and Causeni district”.
Meteorologists issued yellow code of heavy snowfall in southern, central and some settlements in the north on 11 January. Thus, the snow will be between 5-10 cm. Drifts will be formed in some areas.
In this context, the service warns people to avoid travelling. Drivers are asked to keep in car trunk a shovel and chains, and the vehicle to be equipped with winter tires. Moreover, before starting off the people are urged to carefully listen to weather reports and avoid the snowy parts. In case of risk situations, people may call 901 service for help.
