Over 20 educational institutions still closed due to low temperatures

Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/- Over 20 educational institutions remain closed due to low temperatures, the Education Ministry announced today.
It is about 15 kindergartens and 8 primary and secondary education institutions.
“In Cahul district a school and two kindergartens have been closed, and in Cantemir – 5 schools. In all, 1,051 children stayed at home. Till 13 January, in Leova district the activity of 9 kindergartens was stopped, and in Ocnita 6 kindergartens with 263 children. In other 23 districts, including Balti and Chisinau municipalities, all education institutions are operating as normal,” a press release by the institution reads.
The deputy head of the Education Ministry’s pre-university education department, Mariana Goras, has earlier said that all days would be recovered by pupils in rest period.
Meteorologists forecast that the air temperature will reach – 11 degrees during the day, and – 14 degrees at night in the central country. In the northern country, the air temperature will not exceed – 13 degrees during the day and – 17 degrees at night. In the south, thermometers will show up to – 10 degrees during the day and to – 11 degrees at night. At the same time, snowfall is expected the following days.
