Moldovan parliament's special commission selects candidacies for member of European Committee for the Prevention of Torture

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ – The special committee for selecting candidates for membership of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment today announced results of the contest. Nagacevschi Vitalie, Ludmila Popovici and Victor Zaharia are the three nominees to be submitted to the Committee of Ministers of the European Council by the national delegation, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
After assessing the professional skills of the competitors in the areas that they treat European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Cruel or Inhuman or Degrading Treatment, as well as their knowledge and skills in the treatment of inmates and to strengthen their protection against torture and inhuman or degrading punishment, the Commission decided to submit to Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council three candidates, according to the competition requirements.
Afterwards, from those three nominees on the list presented by the national delegation, the Committee of Ministers of the European Council will select one candidate.
