Moldovan government discusses hospital reform

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ – The hospital reform concept was presented today at the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Cabinet Chief said that this year the Government proposed to launch a series of important reforms for society, totaling to 3 reforms related to health: reform of the hospital, primary health care and reform public health oversight. "It's very important to have clear policies in the field, we know where we are going and where we want to go, step by step to go through the necessary steps. Spending money piecemeal, without a clear vision, it is not effective", stressed Mr. Filip.
The premier said that we needed an efficient hospital reform, ensuring quality care and affordable for citizens.
According to hospital reform project presented by the Ministry of Health, this reform aims few priority objectives, namely: the provision of quality health services, cost optimization by creating a regional hospital networks functional and cost-effective and ensuring conditions for sustainable development of the hospital sector.
The draft stipulates that the types of hospitals and their location will be determined depending on the coverage, demographic situation and the existing infrastructure. It comes also to create university hospital, which is an institution of excellence, combining curative component, teaching and research. At the same time, for monitoring and supervising the implementation of hospital reform, it was proposed to create a consultative service at governmental level.
The participants welcomed the intention to reform the hospital sector, having to come up with proposals and suggestions for completing the project, so in February 2017, document is to be approved by the government. The project will exhibit all stakeholders, including representatives of parliament, health institutions, members of NGOs in the field.
The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries of Health and Finance, National Company for Health Insurance, the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Trade Unions in the sector, the Union of private health institutions and international institutions: World Bank and Swiss Cooperation Office.
