Moldovan cabinet, education trade unions agree on suspension of protests during negotiations

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ – The Commission for negotiations of the Government and the Trade Unions Federation of Education and Science met today in their first working session. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister on social issues, Gheorghe Brega, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

Following the discussions, the representatives of the Trade Unions Federation of Education and Science agreed to suspend protests during negotiations on claims previously submitted. The next meeting of the Committee of negotiations was set for Friday, 20 January 2017.

During the dialogue, the Government representatives stressed that the authorities initiated a few actions of education system modernization and increase the income of employees in the sector. These reforms were planned in advance and the necessary financial resources were provided in the State Budget.

In this context, Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega said that the government opted for a holistic approach to the necessity of increasing salaries of public sector employees. In this regard, Prime Minister Pavel Filip signed on 16 January 2017, the provision on creation of the Working Group on the salary system reform in public sector, which follows to come up with proposals for salary change of all employees in public sector, including in education.
