Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the beginning of a today’s cabinet meeting, said that the statements on an eventual cancellation of the Association Agreement with the European Union, made by President Igor Dodon in Moscow, would have no effect in Chisinau.
“The government does not accept any intervention in the Agreement; on the contrary, just as you remember, we started the last year with arrears in the Accord, we made efforts to remove them and we implemented a new action plan in the end of the year. The Agreement is part of the government’s action programme and is one of the strategic pillars of our work. Starting the signing of the Agreement, the European Union has earmarked us over 746 million euros. If the citizens did not feel the investments, the fault is not of EU, but of the Chisinau administration, which did not use this money efficiently,” the PM said.
As for President Dodon’s intention to sign a memorandum with the Eurasian Union, the prime minister said this idea would not be backed either in parliament or government.
“A memorandum with the Eurasian Union is also a statement that will remain political, which cannot be enforced without the parliament and government. I want to specify that, at meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, I said that I did not describe as opportune a discussion in the Russia-EU-Moldova format. We have a bilateral relation with EU and have another bilateral relation with Russia. We will try to find needed solutions on this dimension,” Pavel Filip added.
