Moldovan government approves creation of Lower Prut reserve

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ – The government approved at today meeting, the foundation of Lower Prut reserve. The project will extend the protected natural area and ensure the conservation of biodiversity in Moldova.
According to the Executive Directorate and communication protocol, the reserve is created in the project borders Romania – Ukraine – Moldova, which is funded by the European Union. This will help to reduce the loss of biodiversity and the improvement of living standards by creating jobs, modernizing infrastructure and socio-economic development of the region.
Similarly, the Lower Prut reserve will ensure the improvement of Moldova's image internationally and will attract investment of restoring forests, promotion of organic farming, conservation of water resources and tourism potential.
The reservation will be located in the Prut river meadow, comprising a total area of over 14,700 hectares of new settlements in Cahul, including land Forestry Slobozia.
The document is to be submitted to Parliament for consideration.
