Moldovan foreign minister meets Dutch counterpart

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur was received by Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Bert Koenders in the Hague today, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.    

The officials welcomed the positive dynamic of the political and diplomatic dialogue between Moldova and the Netherlands, recorded in the last period, and appreciated the boosting of the bilateral contacts. The agenda of talks comprised relevant subjects for the development of the Moldovan-Dutch relations in the political and economic sectors, as well as an exchange of opinions on the regional situation and the Transnistrian conflict settlement.   

Minister Andrei Galbur thanked the Dutch government for the support provided to Moldova to promote and implement the goals of Moldova’s modernization and backing to carry out the agenda of structural reforms, according to the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement.

In particular, the officials tackled subjects on sectoral cooperation. The Moldovan foreign minister reiterated the interest to initiate new cooperation projects, through the present assistance instruments, stressing the importance of a project, financed by the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries at the Dutch Foreign Ministry, titled Strengthening Capacities of Moldova's Foreign and European Integration Ministry in Economic Diplomacy Sector.  

For his part, Minister Bert Koenders reconfirmed his government’s firm commitment to back Moldova in implementing the reforms needed in important sectors, such as fighting corruption, justice system, financial and banking sector, etc.
