Moldovan entrepreneurs, residents demand mostly loans for 2-5 years

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - Loans provided by commercial banks for 2-5 years were the most attractive ones in last December. These loans accounted for 40.94 per cent of all the loans in Moldovan lei, provided with an average interest rate of 11.28 per cent, down by 1.09 percentage points against the month before, according to data by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
The average rate of interest on new credits provided in the national currency in December 2016 stood at 11.74 per cent, by 3.84 percentage points under the level of the similar period of the year before. The average rate of interest on the loans provided in the national currency dropped by 0.82 percentage points against November 2016.
Most new credits provided in the national currency, 61.19 per cent of all the loans, represented the financings provided to legal entities with an average rate of 11.72 per cent. At the same time, credits in Moldovan lei with an average rate of 11.78 per cent were provided to private people.
On the other hand, the average rate of interest on term deposits in national currency decreased by 7.43 percentage points against December 2015 and dropped to 6.79 per cent. The deposits on a term from 6 to 12 months, with average rate of interest of 7.91 per cent, were the most attractive ones in the accounting month, standing at 36.25 per cent of all the term deposits in Moldovan lei.
