Moldovan government adopts minimum requirements of cybernetic security

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ – The government approved at its meeting today, the obligatory minimum cyber security requirements. The new provisions will be implemented in central government institutions in Moldova and will contribute to enlarging the security and confidence in digital space, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
According to the domain of usage, mandatory baseline cyber security will be divided into two categories: Level 1 requirements, which refer to the use of information technologies in the institutions and Level 2 requirements, advanced cyber security degree, for providing services in institutions based on information technologies and communications. The project contains safety standards for both levels, including physical and operational security and data exchange.
The document defines responsibilities of public authorities in regulating internal procedures that will ensure the adequate level of cyber security. As such, public institutions will be responsible for conducting internal audits on cyber security, staff training, guideline development of e-mail usage and other activities which will contribute to safe data processing and accessing.
The new requirements will be fully implemented in all central government institutions until the end of 2017.
