Moldovan government approves financing of 52 new regional development projects

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ – The infrastructure in 52 localities will be modernized and their residents are supposed to have access to quality services, following the decision of the Government to implement new regional development projects. So, the Cabinet of Ministers approved today the United Programming Document for 2017 – 2020, which includes the list of projects financed from the state budget, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

Totally, there were selected 52 new projects and approved continuation of funding for 10 projects which had been previously launched, out of these: in the Center – 26; North – 19; South – 12 and Gagauzia – 5. For the purpose of their implementation, from the National Fund for regional development, it will be allocated over 1.46 billion lei.

The Regional Development Priority projects were selected on the basis of a public competition organized during 2016 by the Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions. The winners were selected by an inter-ministerial committee, including some international experts.

Also today, the government decided to establish the National Planning Council of the Territory. The new entity will facilitate inter-sectoral collaboration to develop and promote landscaping projects, ensuring complex and sustainable development of Moldova.

Similarly, the Council will coordinate central government activities and the local ones on urban planning and landscaping, oversee the drafting of plans for landscaping of national and regional territories and monitor the effective use of funds allocated from the state budget.
