Cabinet to back cultural events dedicated to Moldovan famous composer's anniversary

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved at its meeting today, a decision on the 80th anniversary celebration of the birth of composer Eugen Doga. According to the document, there will be performed a number of cultural activities during 2017, paying tribute to maestro and promoting his creation, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Among the most important activities are: organizing an anniversary concert and a photo exhibition, staging ballet "Luceafarul" (The Morning Star), conduct of chamber performances and organization of creative meetings attended by maestro. Similarly, there will be edited a few anniversary publications, including a postage stamp and commemorative coin "Eugen Doga – 80 years from birth" and chamber music anniversary performances organized in the premises of Moldovan diplomatic missions abroad. In order to realize these events, it was allocated 1.5 million lei from the Government Reserve Fund.
Eugen Doga was born on 01 March 1937 in Mocra village, district Ribnita. His musical creations are highly appreciated both in the Republic of Moldova and abroad. The maestro was manifested in music and film, becoming one of the most famous composers in the post-Soviet cinema.
For his outstanding merits, Eugen Doga was awarded Laureate of the State Prize, he is the Knight of the Order of the Republic and the People's Artist.
