Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - Young people aged 18 will be conscripted to the Armed Forces in April-July 2017, under a presidential decree due to be published in the 27 January issue of the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).

According to the document, the Moldovan citizens, who do not benefit from right of postponing or exemption from seasoned military service and the short-term one, are to be conscripted to the Armed Forces.

At the same time, the military whose duration of service expired are to be released and put in reserve.

The government is to establish the number of conscripted young people.

Data put out by the Defence Ministry shows that about 1,800 young persons were conscripted to the National Army in 2016.
