Head of state meets chief of European council office in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ – President, Igor Dodon met with Jose Luis Herrero, Head of Council of Europe (COE) Office in Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
The sides exchanged views on cooperation between the organization and Moldova.
Jose Luis Herrero informed the president about the office in our country, stressing the main objectives of collaboration for Moldova. The official reiterated his desire to continue cooperation with Moldovan authorities.
Igor Dodon praised the existing relations between Moldova and the Council of Europe. The head of state thanked for the assistance of multiple COE structures in promoting reforms in Moldova.
The Head of State stressed the importance it attaches to the COE’s position in achieving major objectives. Also, Igor Dodon referred to the General Prosecutor’s Office reform implementation, which in his view was implemented contrary to the expectations of citizens and development partners, including the appointment of the new General Prosecutor, a decision that was challenged in court.
At the same time, there were discussed matters related to legislation on legalization +of the capital, legislation regulating the status of Transnistria and the Gagauz Autonomy.
"We have some experience of communication. They are available for open discussion and for effective dialogue. We have got to discuss plenty of sensitive patterns," Igor Dodon concluded.
