Exhibition dedicated to 25th anniversary of Moldovan-Chinese diplomatic ties' establishment inaugurated at national library

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of books, titled The 25th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Moldova and China, was inaugurated at the National Library (BNRM) today.
Attending the event were Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii, State Secretary at the Culture Ministry Andrei Chistol, China’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong, the former Moldovan ambassador to China, Victor Borsevici, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau.
In the beginning of the event, BNRM director Elena Pintilei made a general presentation of the exhibition, which comprises over 150 books on the Moldovan-Chinese bilateral relation, as well as volumes on the Chinese civilization, history, philosophy, economic and social impact, traditions, lifestyle, language and literature. A small exhibition of decorative elements related to the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) was opened here as well. The exhibition was prepared by the Embassy of China.
In his speech, Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii referred to the achievements got in the sector of diplomatic relations between the two countries, stressing that China is an important partner of Moldova. “Our political contacts are very good. The Silk Road and activities related to this project open great prospects for developing our trade relations with other states,” Lilian Darii noted.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, China’s Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong said that China was among the first countries to establish diplomatic ties with Moldova.
“During the 25 years, our bilateral friendship relations have been based on mutual trust. In January-November 2016, the export of Moldovan goods amounted to 13.5 million dollars, recording an 80-per cent growth against the year before. Also, the cultural exchanges between the two countries are quite frequent, as China is present at the Martisor International Music Festival each time. At the same time, more than 3,600 students studied the Chinese language at the Confucius Institute,” the Chinese diplomat said.
A ceremony on official launch of a stamp with special obliteration, The 25th Anniversary of Moldova-Chinese Diplomatic Relations, took place at the event. The stamp was elaborated by the Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post) enterprise, and represents the Soroca Fortress and the Forbidden City of Beijing; it is applied on the envelope with special drawing, which includes more states with which Moldova has signed agreements on establishing diplomatic relations in 1992.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and China were set on 30 January 1992.
