Moldovan cabinet rules to set up consultative council for small, middle-sized enterprises

Chisinau, 01 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved, in its meeting today, the establishment of the Consultative Council for small and middle-sized enterprises (SMEs). The new entity will operate under the Economy Ministry and will be a platform for interaction between businessmen and authorities, as well as also for launching new programs for SME sector’s development, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The work of the Council will actively involve business and civil society representatives, who will analyze the regulatory framework of entrepreneurial activity and come up with proposals for its improvement. The members of the new entity are to come up with recommendations on programs’ implementation to support middle – sized entrepreneurship development in Moldova.
According to official data, SMEs constitute over 97 per cent of all companies in Moldova, and their contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) is about 32 per cent. At the same time, about 56 per cent of all employed persons work in small and middle – sized enterprises.
