Moldovan cabinet awards sportsmen with outstanding performances at Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games

Chisinau, 01 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved in its meeting today, the allocation, from the Government’s reserve fund, in the amount of 3.95 million lei for rewarding athletes who achieved outstanding performance in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well as their coaches and medical staff, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

So, athletes Zalina Margieva and Alexandru Spac, who ranked on the fifth position, will receive 600 thousand lei each, weightlifter Sergiu Cechir, the sixth place – 400 thousand and Larisa Marinenkova, which was the seventh in the final standings – 300 thousand lei. The awarding of athlete Sergei Tarnovschi, bronze medalist in canoe single trial, was postponed until confirmation of final results by the International Canoe Federation.

Moldova represented 26 athletes at XXXI Summer Olympic Games and at the XVth edition of the Paralympic Games.
