Traffic on roads in Moldova without any difficulty

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/- Traffic on the roads in the country is without any difficulty, the head of the State Road Administration’s operative service, Sergiu Capatina, said.
The road traffic is practicable for all types of transport. “Currently, there are no difficulties on the country’s roads. Overnight over one hundred special vehicles and around 340 workers have intervened for snow removal of routes. Road workers have used about 160 tons of antiskid material. Snowfalls were more abundant in the northern districts, such as: Edinet, Briceni, Riscani, Balti, Ocnita and Donduseni”, he said.
Customs Service spokeswoman Cristina Rau said that at present, due to ice bridges formation, activity of customs checkpoint of wharf type – Cosauti remains suspended. “Snowfall of the night did not affect the work of other posts, the movement is maintained as normal”, Rau said.
On the other hand, the Chisinau International Airport’s information service noted that due to the weather conditions, the flight to Bucharest would be canceled and flights to Moscow, Istanbul and Milan would take off late.
For her part, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcanu said that overnight rescuers and firefighters had not intervened in the territory. “We will monitor the situation and if necessary we will act to help citizens. However, we recommend drivers to equip their vehicles properly,” she said.
The State Hydrometeorological Service announced yellow code of sudden change in the weather throughout the country on 7-10 February 2017. Thus, during this period the air temperatures will significantly decrease, sleet and snow will fall, icy roads and snowdrifts will be expected.
A similar situation is in Ukraine, where it is difficult to travel because of icy roads. At the same time, in Romania meteorologists today issued yellow code of rain, fog and ice, available in 11 counties in Moldova, Dobrogea and Muntenia.
