Moldovan food safety agency receives equipment for controls in food security sector

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) today received 30 modern equipment and apparatus from the German government to carry out controls in the food safety sector.
It is about special protection equipment (overalls, sterile and non-sterile gloves, caps, boot covers, etc.) equipment for processing laboratory samples (special thermometers, saws with stainless blade, sets of knifes, multi-functional glasses, sterile boxes), electronic magnifying glasses, etc.
ANSA Director Gheorghe Gaberi thanked the government of Germany for the assistance provided. He noted that the Agency was undergoing a process of modernization and needed last generation apparatus and equipment, in order to fit the international norms and requirements for work. “The technology will be distributed to the territorial subdivisions, in order to easier cooperate with ANSA inspectors in emergency situations,” Gaberi said.
For her part, Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Ulrike Knotz said the German authorities would provide Moldova with a two-million-euros-worth grant, to modernize the system of checking the food quality. “Consumers from the European Union want the products they import be highly qualitative and this fact creates a premise for native consumers as well. Also, the modernization of institutions checking the quality of agro-food products will favour also the development of trade in the entire European zone and producers will have possibility to promote their goods on new sales markets,” Knotz said.
The cost of the equipment is 19,000 euros. ANSA has underway two similar projects with Sweden and EU Delegation in Chisinau, which see endowing the institution with last generation devices, to be able to carry out needed controls, as well as to issue international quality certificates.
