Moldovan parliament calendars for 2017 illustrated by children

Chisinau, 07 February /MOLDPRES/ – The winners of drawings "Europe through the eyes of children" were invited to Parliament today to receive sets of calendars, illustrated by them. Twelve drawings of the children illustrate the Parliament calendars for 2017, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The authors of the drawings saw for the first time, in reality, as shown by their labour and talent gathered wall, desk and pocket calendars. Deputy Secretary General of Parliament, Igor Klipii offered calendars to children and congratulated them for their talent and efforts.
"The drawings of the Parliament calendar for 2017 do not differ from children's drawings from European countries, at all. Certainly, your generation will bring us into EU, it is a practical, beautiful goal that opens ways to everyone," said Igor Klipii, former Moldovan Ambassador to Lithuania.
At her part, head of the Center for visits and information of the Parliament, Olesea Berestean announced that each member of the parliament (MP) received calendars for 2017 and the partnership between Parliament and children will continue, including within new projects.
The children were happy to tell the way they saw Europe, the mode Moldova's European future appeared and how proud they were that their drawings reached the MPs.
"I intend to put the calendar on the wall, every time I see it I shall remember this contest and say that I should like to return to Parliament," said Nadina Gorducalova, 11, one of the contest winners.
The teachers who accompanied them said that they were glad of the children’s results and calendars showed the artistic talent of the future painters.
For each month, the calendar contains a drawing that reflects the child's vision on European integration of Moldova. The calendars are offered to visitors to Parliament.
Contest "Europe Through the Eyes of Children" was organized for the first time by Parliament, on occasion of the Day of Europe. The winners were nominated by the means of Facebook page of the Parliament, based upon the obtained appreciations. The authors of the drawings are children of 8 – 16 years old. The competition involves 53 drawings, the authors being recipients of Community Centres in Chisinau, the Orphanage "Preafericitul Iosif" (Blessed Joseph) and children from different districts of Moldova who submitted their drawings by means of territorial information offices of the Parliament.
Similar events, which gathered all the children participating in the contest, were held in the territorial information offices of the Parliament in Orhei, Leova and Edinet.
The Parliament calendars were published with the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the financial support of Sweden.
